Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of the Spek Screens web app (screens.spekapps.com) and the Spek Videos web app (videos.spekapps.com), made by Blair ("Spek," "we," "us"). By using the apps, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the apps.

Plain-language summary: these are small, free apps offered as-is. Use them reasonably, and understand there are no guarantees. The sections below are the formal version.

Using the apps

You need to sign in with a Google account to use the apps. You're responsible for keeping your account secure and for what happens under it. Please use the apps only for lawful, personal purposes, and don't try to break, overload, misuse, or gain unauthorized access to them or to other users' data.

The apps are currently offered free of charge while in a small testing phase.

Your content and data

Your saved preferences and activity remain yours. How we handle that information is described in our Privacy Policy. You can delete your data at any time from the Account section of each app.

Third-party services and content

The apps rely on and display content from third-party services — including Google/YouTube and The Movie Database (TMDB) — and link to other sites. We don't control those services or their content, and we're not responsible for them. Your use of YouTube, for example, is also subject to Google's and YouTube's own terms. Movie and show information and images are provided by TMDB, which does not endorse Spek.

Availability and changes

The apps are provided "as is" and "as available." We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of them at any time, and we may limit or end access to an account. We don't guarantee the apps will always be available, error-free, accurate, or uninterrupted.

No warranties

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the apps are provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. You use the apps at your own risk.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Spek and its maker will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of or related to your use of the apps. Because the apps are provided free of charge, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid to use the apps — which is nothing.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada that apply there, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any disputes will be handled by the courts located in Ontario, Canada.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll change the date at the top. Continuing to use the apps after a change means you accept the updated terms.
